Hands on 4th Chakra (heart = forgiveness, love), 2nd Chakra (sacral = money, work, career, romance), and 3rd Chakra (solar plexus = self-esteem)

Hello!⁣

Today we talk about sending the breath toward our first Chakra and specifically to the Belly, which is the space that spans the top of the first chakra (root chakra), the second chakra (sacral chakra), and ends at just above where the third chakra (solar plexus) begins. ⁣

I have had a few clients ask how they can get their breath into the belly. "Why do they ask this?", you wonder...⁣

If you've ever done a session with me, you know that we always start with practicing sending the breath into the first chakra, which includes sending the breath through the belly, and then bringing it back up. ⁣

"But 𝐰𝐡𝐲???" You ask, more emphatically this time ☺️. ⁣

So that we can speak from that place and get closer to honesty. Yup, speaking from the belly = speaking our truth--you can't hide your truth when it's sourced from the those lower three chakras. When you try to lie, you end up sort of choking/coughing on the untruth. ⁣

Instead of the mind going, running the show, which looks like shaking the head vigorously as we say, "everything's fine" or the phrase "Yes, I don't know what's wrong with me right now..." ⁣

Does this ring a bell? It sounds like pitched up speaking (high-pitched speaking) that comes from the attic (the area between the sixth chakra (third eye) and the seventh chakra--right around the forehead. ⁣

Way up there 🙋🏽‍♀️, instead of down here 🔥(that fire pit, the root chakra!). ⁣

So my clients asked, "how do I get into the belly breath without bending over". NOTE: I sometimes have clients drop down and bend over so that they can more easily send the breath into the first chakra. ⁣

And now, the revelation: I was hiking today. And a 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 came upon me. We were walking uphill and I realized, "Oh, I'm catching my breath". And I was breathing from my chest with the lungs doing a ton of work. ⁣

And I said, "Oh, I would love to be able to breathe in the belly. I would love to feel this space, these outdoors, with my breath in the belly, because that is a calmer place. And it allows me to receive more information than breathing from the chest, which is the fight or flight breathing". Breathing from the belly would allow me to more easily experience the truth of that moment in nature. ⁣

So I got my breath to the belly by holding my ribs in place. In so doing, the belly took over as primary on the breathing because the chest/ribs were in traction. ⁣

Here is how to practice: go and walk somewhere really fast or walk up a hill or do something very energetic, very vigorous, and then hold your ribs toward stillness. Hold your ribs and they're going to want to do the breathing. But when you hold them towards stillness, you can get the breath down into the belly. ⁣
