Discovering Vedic Meditation

Introducing Vedic Meditation

Over 15 years ago, I was introduced to Vedic meditation, a practice that has had a profound impact on my life. Initially, it was gifted to me by my boyfriend (at the time) as a way to help me calm down and find inner peace. Little did I know that this simple act of introducing meditation into my life would empower me to embrace my authenticity and wholeness.

Vedic meditation is a technique that involves sitting comfortably with closed eyes and repeating a mantra silently. It is a practice that allows the mind to settle into a state of deep rest, allowing the body to release stress and tension. Through regular meditation sessions, I discovered that it goes beyond relaxation and offers a transformative journey towards self-discovery.

Empowering Authenticity and Wholeness

As I delved deeper into my meditation practice, I began to notice a shift within myself. I had struggled with menstrual problems for years, experiencing irregular cycles, painful periods, and hormonal imbalances. However, through meditation, I found that my awareness of these issues became amplified--meaning when I was menstruating, the pain of my cramps, the hot flashes, the cold sweats, the nausea heightened when I meditated.

I realized that Meditation will always force me  tune in to the signals my body was sending and, on my journey to developing the Fierce Gentlenessâ„¢  system, it helped me recognize when changes I was making outside of meditations were actually treating the underlying causes of my menstrual problems. By addressing testing these interventions, in time, I was able to experience pain-free and regular cycles, which, in turn, allowed me to significantly deepen my meditation experiences--there is nothing like a meditation in Priestess (aka Menstrual) Phase!

I realized that meditation was not just a means of calming my mind, but a powerful tool for self-discovery and healing. It empowered me to embrace my authenticity, listen to my body, and make choices that were in alignment with my overall well-being because it truly highlights alignment and mis-alignment.

In the next section, we will explore the amplifying effect of meditation and how it can enhance our awareness of what does not serve us. Stay tuned for more insights on this transformative practice and its connection to the powerful song "I Will Always Love You."

Embracing Wholeness through Meditation

This newfound tool that mediation provided enabled me to make necessary changes in my lifestyle, diet, and self-care routine. As a result, I experienced a shift towards pain-free, PMS-free, and regular-length cycles.

It's important to recognize that meditation can amplify awareness of what does not serve us, including pain and discomfort. If you're currently experiencing menstrual problems, it may be helpful to address them before fully benefiting from the amplifying effects of meditation because, like I said, during menstruation the pain and suffering of the phase will be amplified. While conventional medicine stresses seeking medical advice when you are experiencing period problems, I and many of my clients have found that the medical system does not help end period pain, it often makes it worst. This is why Steady + Free and my work as The Period Empress exist, we offer holistic approaches that resonate with your whole being to find relief, support, and to eventually end your period problems.

The Amplifying Effect of Meditation

During meditation, we become more attuned to our bodies and emotions. This heightened awareness can amplify any pain or discomfort we may be experiencing, shining a spotlight on the areas that need attention and healing. It's crucial to acknowledge and address these issues to create a solid foundation for a more fulfilling meditation practice and a more fulfilling life. This is why The Fierce Gentlenessâ„¢ Collective exists--in The Collective, because we are dedicated to allowing the shift to happen within we have a place to address problems and live our way into solutions. In The Collective, we start with period problems and move on to handling money, worthiness, career, and relationships!

If you've been struggling with menstrual problems such as irregular cycles, debilitating cramps, or heavy bleeding, it's essential to seek medical guidance and explore potential solutions. Addressing these issues head-on will not only alleviate physical discomfort but also pave the way for deeper, more transformative meditation experiences.

Remember, meditation is a powerful tool for self-discovery and growth, but it works best when our bodies and minds are in a state of balance. By taking proactive steps to address menstrual problems, you can create the space needed for meditation to truly enhance your well-being and empower you on your journey towards wholeness.

In the next section, we'll explore the power and significance of the iconic song "I Will Always Love You" and how it aligns with the transformative effects of meditation.

The Power of "I Will Always Love You", The Power of Empathy

One day, while scrolling through instagram, a person I follow posted the image of  Whitney Houston's performance in the movie "The Bodyguard." It was in that moment that I understood the incredible strength and emotion that this song represents.

Whitney Houston's rendition of "I Will Always Love You" is a testament to her ability to convey power, vulnerability, and love with ease. The song resonates deeply with women, especially those who have experienced the ups and downs of their menstrual cycles. If our periods and wombs had a voice, they would express the same strength and emotions that Whitney's voice effortlessly portrayed.

The power of this song lies in its ability to evoke feelings of love, longing, and empowerment. It serves as a reminder that we have the strength within us to overcome any challenges that our periods may bring. Just as Whitney's voice soars through the song, our spirits can rise above the physical discomforts that sometimes accompany our menstrual cycles.

Listening to "I Will Always Love You" during meditation allows us to tap into the emotions and power that lie within us. It encourages us to embrace our authenticity and find solace in the knowledge that we are capable of enduring and thriving through any difficulties we may face. This song serves as a reminder that our periods are not just a burden or inconvenience, but, once nurtured to menstrual balance, our periods/wombs/cycles are actually a source of strength and resilience.

Dolly Parton was inspired to write this song while at the hospital visiting her former manager who, having fallen on bad times, had repeatedly sued her for a portion of her earnings despite having stopped representing her early in her career. Dolly Parton's love for her former manager was so much bigger than the millions of dollars that she had given to him out of pity, and from that pure generosity of spirit, the song "I will always love you" was birthed. Parton ended up earning exponentially more from the song he inspired than what she had given to him. He mistreated her, but she loved him nonetheless--this is exactly what we unconsciously do to our wombs and, when we nurture them to end period pain, they serve us in ways that exponentially increase our joy, bliss, confidence, relationships, work, and consistency.

Nurturing the Womb

The Power of Self-Care and Connection

Taking care of our bodies, especially our wombs, is essential to our overall well-being. By nurturing our womb, we can alleviate pain, balance hormones, and create a harmonious cycle. Here are some ways to nurture and connect with your womb:

1. Self-Care Rituals:

Create a self-care routine that specifically focuses on your womb. This can include gentle abdominal massages, warm baths with essential oils like lavender or chamomile, and practicing restorative yoga poses that target the pelvic area.

2. Nourishing Foods:

Incorporate foods that support womb health into your diet. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon and flaxseeds, can help reduce inflammation. Other beneficial foods include leafy greens, berries, and whole grains.

3. Herbal Remedies:

Explore herbal remedies that can support your womb's health. Red raspberry leaf tea, for example, is known for its toning and nourishing effects on the uterus. Consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner or herbalist before incorporating new herbs into your routine.

4. Mindful Movement:

Engage in gentle exercises that promote blood flow to the pelvic area, such as walking, swimming, or practicing gentle yoga. Movement not only supports physical health but also encourages a deeper mind-body connection.

5. Connecting with Your Intuition:

Take time to listen to your body and connect with your intuition. Our wombs hold wisdom and guidance, and by tuning in, we can better understand what our bodies need. Journaling, meditation, and spending time in nature can aid in this process.

Remember, nurturing your womb is an ongoing journey, and it's important to be patient and kind to yourself. Each person's experience is unique, so listen to your body and do what feels right for you. By nurturing and connecting with your womb, you can experience a deeper sense of well-being and empower yourself to take control of your menstrual health.
